March 8, 2005. DisCat has its first day on the internet. The software is expected to do quite well on the market for many reasons. Most importantly, it is the only software of its kind. No other software exists that has so many convenient and valuable features for cataloguing the data on removable storage disks. February 28, 2005. DisCat has successfully passed all testing and is nearly ready for internet sales. The first market version is the DisCat 2.0 version, which will soon be a downloadable, thirty day, free trial version. DisCat was mapped out by the software engineers so that new plugins and modules planned for the future could be added with ease. Genutronics is expected to announce its plans for new plugins and modules in the next few months. November 15, 2004. DisCat Beta testing begins. After having passed a through alpha testing phase, Genutronics programmers have now begun the Beta testing of DisCat 2. In this phase they run performance tests. They tried finding the maximum number of media images that DisCat could create and compress into its database, but they have not yet hit a critical maximum, meaning the DisCat user can indeed scan and store all the necessary storage disk data to create his or her library. The Discat programming team expects to have a very solid market version of DisCat within the next six to eight weeks.
